Our Freedom, Our Responsibility” is a collaborative installation created by students using discarded materials to reflect on India’s journey from the struggle for independence to the responsibility of the present generation. At its centre, a flaming torch held by many hands symbolises the freedom received from earlier generations and the collective responsibility to preserve it. Recycled newspapers, cardboard, packaging, bottle caps and other waste materials form the hands, torch, flames and surrounding elements. The Ashoka Chakra, national colours and doves represent unity, peace and democratic values. The artwork reminds us that freedom is inherited, but preserving it is our shared responsibility

  1. I would like to understand the passage beginning “Our Freedom, Our Responsibility” is a collaborative installation created by students using…” in more detail. Could you add a worked example for that point? The separate excerpt “Recycled newspapers, cardboard, packaging, bottle caps and other waste materials form…” also caught my attention; what would be a useful way for a reader to explore that topic further?
