Collaborative Art Space presents, National collaborative art project and online exhibition, Jugalbandi.
An artist and artisan/craftsperson/folk dancer/folk musician/folk singer collaborate together to create wonderful works of art.
It is open to teams of two consisting of one artist and one artisan/craftsperson/folk dancer/folk musician/folk singer above the age of 15, currently living & working in India.
The focus of the project is creative collaboration to promote the traditional & folk arts of India, in all shapes & forms.
Prize money of INR 10,000 will be given to two winning groups.
All participants will be provided a digital certificate of participation.
How It All Works
Stage 1:
Collaborative teams of two must be made by participants themselves before filling the application form.
One person must be an artist and the other an artisan. Interested teams fill the application to participate.
A small proposal detailing what the team plans on doing, the roles, crafts employed & whatever else the team wishes to expand on must be submitted while filling the application form.
Stage 2:
From all applicants, a pool of teams will be shortlisted to participate.
Shortlisted teams, to confirm their participation, must pay a participation fee of INR 3000/-
Students (with valid ID cards) and senior citizens (valid Aadhaar cards or Voter ID cards) will get a 50% discount on the fee.
Stage 3:
Work finally begins.
Each team will create a minimum of one and maximum of two collaborative artworks, based on the proposals discussed with the Collaborative Art Space.
A record of the process must be maintained by the team which includes: brief overview of the project, background research, details of execution, materials used, rough sketches(if any), etc. This document will need to be submitted with the final images of the creation.
Selection of Winners
- Winners will be decided on the basis of likes.
- Once a group submits their artworks, the artworks will be uploaded on our website and voting will be carried out for a period of time.
- After the voting period, the two artworks with the most likes will be chosen as the winning artworks and the respective teams as the winning teams.
- Each team will be awarded Rs.10,000/-
Guidelines
- Subject: My favorite/Our favorite
- Medium: Art, craft, textile, music, vocal , dance, prose, poetry, etc.
- Format & Size:
- Physical 2 dimensional artwork/craft/painting /textile: A4 size, high-quality scanned image (300dpi)
- Digital paintings, models: A4 size, 300dpi
- 3 dimensional artwork/craft/ sculpture/ textile: high-quality photograph (300dpi)
- Poetry/Prose:
- 2-minute video performance, less than 100 MB
- PDF file of the writing
- Performance Art: 2-minute performance, less than 100 MB
- Audio or video: under 100 MB and less than 2 minutes long.
- Participation Fee: INR 3000/- each team
Students (with valid ID cards) or senior citizens (valid Aadhaar cards or Voter ID cards) will get a 50% discount on the fee. - Eligibility: 15+ years
- A document outlining the research, techniques used and process of development explanation is compulsory for exhibiting the artwork. If required, the open file can be called by the Collaborative Art Space.
- Plagiarized artwork will not be allowed to display in the exhibition. In case plagiarized or copyrighted work is found amongst submitted art, the artwork will not be displayed, and no refund will be provided.
- The completed high-resolution image along with along with necessary information and the progress document should be uploaded in the art submission form by the 28 September 2023.
- Sales Guidelines:
- Potential buyers need to contact the artist directly for sales. All sales related communication will happen directly between buyers and sellers.
- CAS is not liable in any case regarding the sale of artworks, successful or not successful.
- Note:
- We do not require actual physical artwork to be submitted.
- We will be using photographs from the exhibition and work in progress photos to keep in our record and use in our publicity and social media. In case you don’t want us to use yours, please inform us before starting the project.
Documents needed to fill application form
For each person in the team:
- Front facing close-up photo (Size < 1 MB) – only image* files to be attached
- Scanned copy of ID (Size < 1 MB) – only image* files to be attached
Note: If you are an artisan, if available, attach your artisan card as an ID - 5 photos of recent (last 3 years) work samples with title, size & medium mentioned
- Brief statement about yourself & your art practice (Word limit: 900 characters) – to be written in the space given in the form.

Timeline
- Last date for submission of application form: 31 May 2024
- Announcement of shortlisted artists: On or before 02 June 2024
- Last date for payment: On or before 04 June 2024, 11:59 PM
- Announcement of groups: On or before 06 June 2024 (as selection is on rolling bases)
- Starting date of project: On or before 7 June 2024
- Individual Group discussion about the project with Collaborative Art Space: 17, 18 & 19 July 2024
- Date for mailing the in progress image and video to Collaborative Art Space: 11 August 2024
Note: The team will not be eligible for the contest if the team doesn’t send the in progress images & videos by the dates of submission mentioned above. The team will be allowed to participation in online exhibition only. - Submission of the final artwork image + documentation, to Collaborative Art Space: 06 September 2024, till 11:59 PM
Note: Without submission of final images + the documentation by the end date, the team will not be allowed to participate in the competition. - Tentative Date of Exhibition: 23 September 2024 to 22 Oct 2024
