For this submission, I decided to focus on the emotion of nostalgia by incorporating an event from my own life and my own views on growing up and leaving my childhood behind. Nostalgia can be a bittersweet emotion as it means rejoicing about past memories but also appreciating the past more than the present. I think the poem conveys this well. Nostalgia is a longing for the past that we want to re-experience.
